Fiat

The Italian auto maker Fiat was named such as an Italian acronym more closely in English meaning Italian Automobile Factory of Turin.  Founded in 1899, Fiat had held a leading role among vehicle manufacturers ever since.  In 1900, Fiat opened its first factory and hired one hundred fifty workers.  Twenty four cars were made that first year.

The Fiat Automobile Company opened in the United States in 1908.  At the time, Fiat was considered a luxury item but that did not deter consumers from purchasing the vehicles.  To consumers, the vehicles were well worth the price tag.  Through the years, Fiat sales grew at a steady rate.  Before long, the company began production of trucks, marine engines and commercial vehicles.  After World War I ended,

Fiat along with other manufacturers of the time, experienced financial crisis but recovered by 1923.  By the time World War II began, Fiat switched to manufacturing commercial and military vehicles as well as aircraft weapons and machinery.  After the war, the company once again saw a need for the manufacture of Fiat cars.  By 1958, Fiat was not only producing cars, but also making farm machinery and had begun building factories abroad.

In the coming years, Fiat experienced several changes to their heads of staff.  These changes helped to bring about many new models.  Fiat, having survived two World Wars and several administration changes, has proven their worth by standing the test of time. Though the Fiat brand is not predominant in the American sector, the unique style is easy to spot.  Buying older or newer, you can be sure the Fiat will get you where you want to go.
